18. Nextdoor: a social network creating $1.1 billion by "neighbor"!
Nextdoor was founded in October 2011, it’s focused on creating an intimate neighborhood community website, helping neighborhoods in a specific range to get to know each other, exchange ideas and share suggestions, and organizing virtual neighborhood watch to reduce the crime. Each site is protected by password and not visible to search engines. Before joining, members need to verify their addresses, in order to ensure inter-members can trust each other.
Currently, Nextdoor helps to operate more than 53,000 neighborhood sites in the United States.
